Rotary Sunrisers are again on a December mission for the Mission

Help the less fortunate and give back this Christmas season by participating in the Rotary Club of Sudbury Sunrisers two endeavours on behalf of the Elgin Street Mission: Mission 31 and Nutrition for the Mission.

Mission 31 is back for another year. “A month-long community service project dedicated to supporting the Elgin St. Mission and fostering hope in our community”, this effort sees volunteers serving meals and cleaning up at the mission for each of the 31 days in December.

“Each year, the Sunrisers partner with local businesses and community volunteers to provide evening meal services at the Elgin Street Mission,” the club said in a news release. “Teams of six provide donations of both time and money to provide meal prep, service and clean-up to cover off each of the 31 nights in December.”

The Sunrisers are also collaborating with Chris’ Your Independent Grocer for the Nutrition for the Mission campaign. Until Dec. 5, Rotary Club members will be onsite, helping to pack groceries and encouraging shoppers to purchase a $10, $20 or $50 bag of non-perishable food items for the Mission.

“Last year, long-time corporate partner, Day Construction, provided matching funds during the Sunrisers campaign, which resulted in a $66,000 donation to the Elgin St. Mission.”
